The Phillies opened up the 2014 with an inter league match up against the Texas Rangers. It was a good ol’ fashion slug fest with both teams combining for 24 runs and 31 hits. The Phillies jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the second on Jimmy Rollins’ 200th career home run (congratulations) which was a grand slam. Unfortunately the real Cliff Lee didn’t show up, and the Rangers scored the next seven runs to take a 7-6 lead after three innings. The Phillies came back to tie it in the fourth, and then took a 9-7 lead in the fifth. The Phillies (1-0) would then outscore the Rangers (0-1) 5-2 over the next four innings for the 14-10 win. It’s just one game but it’s a good start.
