After the first game produced 24 runs the second game between the Phillies and Rangers produced just 5 run. Unfortunately the Phillies came up on the wrong side of a 3-2 final. The story of this game wasn’t A.J. Burnett’s strong outing in his Phillies debut, but the use of instant replay to rule that Ben Revere was picked off second base, and that would cost the Phillies an important run when Ryan Howard doubled. It was important since the bullpen couldn’t hold on to a 2-1 lead when the Rangers’ (1-1) Adrian Beltre tie the score 2-2 in the 7th on a RBI double, and win it with a RBI single in the bottom of the ninth. the Phillies (1-1) will be looking to win the series, and avoid losing two straight behind Kyle Kendrick on Wednesday night.
Player of the Game:
Adrian Beltre, 3B Rangers – 2/4, 1 2B, 2 RBI’s (GW)
