It was looking good for the Phillies to take 2 out of 3 from the Rangers, up 3-1 after Ryan Howard’s first home run of the season, and seven strong innings from Kyle Kendrick. Kyle Kendrick would’ve had the win except for the fact that Jonathan Papelbon picked up where he left off last season by blowing the save. Papelbon got the first out then suffered a meltdown, and eventually walked in the winning run. It’s only the first game of the season, and no one is perfect, but with Papelbon’s recent track record how long can they stay with him as a closer. Instead of heading to Chicago 2-1, they head there 1-2 having lost two straight. The Rangers improve to 2-1 with their second straight come from behind victory.
