The Reds ended their three game losing streak with a 6-5 win over the Phillies on Saturday. After the reds took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first Marlo Byrd hit a two run homer in the top of the second to give the Phillies a 2-1 lead. The Reds tied it up in the bottom of the second then scored two in the fourth, and two in the fifth to take a 6-2 lead. The Phillies scored one in the sixth and had another thrown out at the plate, MLB really need to do something about the blocking the plate rule, that would have made it 6-4, instead it was 6-3 heading into the seventh, and Ryne Sanderg was thrown out for the first time as manager. The Phillies scored two more in the seventh to cut it to 6-5, and could have tied it, but Carlos Ruiz was thrown out at the plate, no controversy on this one, just a bad decision by third base coach Pete Mackanin. The Phillies drop to 25-35, and the Reds improve to 28-32.
