The Phillies kicked off the official start to the second half of the season by losing again to the Braves by the score of 3-2 to complete the sweep of the Phillies, and now have won 6 of 7 in Philly so far this season. It’s the first time in 50 years that a Braves team swept a four game series in Philly since they were the Milwaukee Braves back in 1964. The Braves jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the second when Ben Revere misplayed the third out into a two run triple for B.J. Upton. Marlon Byrd cut it to 2-1in the bottom half with the first of his two home runs. the Braves made it 3-1 in the top of the fourth, and Marlon Byrd’s second home run cut it to 3-2 after four innings, unfortunately for the Phillies Byrd didn’t hit the tying, and winning home runs. The Phillies finish up their eight game home stand 2-6, and are sitting pretty ugly in the races for the division and wild card at 36-46, 10 games below .500.
