The Phillies snapped their four game losing streak and ended the Giants three game winning streak, and avoided being swept with a 2-1 win in a Thursday matinee. It was another pitching duel, this time it was the Giants Tim Hudson against the Phillies Cole Hamels. Hudson went 6 innings giving up 2 unearned runs on 8 hits with 6 strikeouts and 2 walks, while Hamels went 8 innings giving up 1 run on 6 hits with 10 strikeouts and 1 walk. Marlon Byrd and Chase Utley had RBI singles for the Phillies, and Ehire Adrianza had an RBI hit for the Giants. The Phillies improve to 44-58, and the Giants drop to 57-45.
