The Phillies completed the sweep of the Astros with a 6-5 come from behind win. The Astros Chris Carter roughed up Sean O’Sullivan, starting in place of Roberto Hernandez, by hitting 2 two run homers that gave the Astros a 5-1 lead after three innings. It stayed that way until the bottom of the eighth. The Phillies had cut it to 5-2, and had the bases loaded with two out and Ryan Howard at the plate. Howard hit a 3-2 pitch into the seats for his 13th career grand slam, and a 6-5 Phillies lead. Jonathan Papelbon picked up his 27th saver and his 94th as a Phillie that ties him with Tug McGraw on the all time saves list. the Phillies now have a three game winning streak and improve to 52-63. The Astros drop their third straight and fall to 47-68.
