The Phillies took game 2 from the A’s by the score of 3-0, and in the process according to MLB Phillies starter Jerome Williams (7 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 K) became the first pitcher in history to beat the same team three times while pitching for three different teams in a season. It was a scoreless game heading into the seventh inning when Freddy Galvis put the Phillies up 2-0 with a 2-run homer. The Phillies ended the scoring with an insurance run in the eighth. Phillies fans got a peek at the not too distant future when Ken Giles pitched the ninth for his first big league save. The Phillies improve to 71-84, and the A’s drop to 84-70.
