The Phillies lost their third straight with a 9-2 loss to the Cardinals in the series finale on Thursday afternoon. It was another rough outing for David Buchanan (4.1 IP, 8 H, 7 R, 7 ER, 3 BB, 1 K) who fell to 0-5 on the season. After the Cardinals scored three in the bottom of the first the Phillies fought back and tied it 3-3 in the top of the third. Unfortunately David Buchanan gave up the lead for good in the bottom half of the inning when he gave up a two run homer to Matt Adams to make it 5-3 Cardinals. The Cardinals would get two more runs off Buchanan in the fifth, and added two more off the Phillies bullpen in the eighth to end the scoring. The Phillies drop to 8-15. The Phillies fall to 2-9 on the road, and are 1-3 on their current 10 game road trip. The Cardinals win their third straight and improve to 15-6.
