The Phillies and Pirates wrapped up their four game “Battle of Pa” series with a Thursday matinee. The Phillies won their second straight and earned a split in the series with a 4-2 win. The Phillies offense did just enough to win score two in the first and adding a run in the third and another in the fifth on a Ryan Howard home run. Aaron Harang kept the Pirates off the scoreboard for eight innings giving up just 5 hits. The Pirates scored two off of Ken Giles in the ninth, but Jonathan Papelbon put an end to any Pirate comeback to pick up his eighth save. The Phillies climb to 13-23, and the pirates drop to 17-18.
