The Phillies extended their winning streak to five games with a 3-2 win over the Toronto Blue Jays. The Blue Jays jumped out to a 2-0 lead on a Devon Travis lead off home run in the first, and a Ryan Goins sacrifice fly in the second, and that’s all the Blue Jays would get. The Phillies took the lead for good in the fifth on a two run double by Cody Asche, and a RBI double by Andres Blanco. Ken Giles pitched a scoreless ninth to pick up his first save as the new closer for the Phillies. The Phillies are now 38-63 while the Blue Jays drop to 50-51.
