The Phillies avoided the sweep by hanging on for a 7-6 win over the D’backs in the series finale on Wednesday afternoon. The D’backs jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a RBI single by Paul Goldschmidt, and Jake Lamb ground out. The Phillies would score the next three runs on a Cameron Rupp sacrifice fly in the second, an Andres Blanco (4) home run in the third, and a Cameron Rupp double play ground out in the fourth to take a 3-2 lead. The D’backs would take a 4-3 lead in the fifth on a Paul Goldschmidt RBI triple, and a RBI single by Jake Lamb. The Phillies would take the lead back for good in the sixth thanks to a Freddy Galvis RBI single that tied the game 4-4, followed by a Cameron Rupp (4) three run homer that put the Phillies up 7-4. Welington Castillo’s sacrifice fly in the seventh cut it to 7-5, and Chris Owings made it 7-6 with a RBI double in the eighth. Ken Giles would come into the game in the eighth to pick up the four out save. The Phillies end their losing streak at two and are now 46-69 while the D’backs drop below .500 at 56-57.
