On a night when Phillies fans were waiting to hear if the Chase Utley trade was official the Phillies snapped their four game losing streak, and split this two game series, and the four games they played against the Blue Jays this season with a 7-4 win. The Phillies jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first on a Sacrifice fly by Jeff Francoeur, a RBI single by Darin Ruf, and Aaron Altherr’s first big league hit, a RBI double. Jeff Francoeur (12) made it 4-0 with a solo home run in the third. the Blue Jays cut it to 4-2 with a pair of runs in the top of the fifth. The Phillies responded with three runs in the bottom half that included a solo home run by Andres Blanco (5), and Aaron Altherr’s (1) first big league homer, a two run shot, to go up 7-2. The Blue Jays managed to score a pair of runs in the eighth to cut it to 7-4, but Ken Giles pitched a scoreless ninth to pick up his ninth save. Adam Morgan picked up his second win this season against the Blue Jays and improves to 4-4. The Phillies are now 47-73, while the Blue Jays drop to 66-55.
