The San Diego Padres spoiled Alec Asher’s major league debut, and the Phillies plans for a series sweep on Sunday afternoon with a 9-4 win. Matt Kemp (16) put the Padres up 2-0 with a two run homer in the top of the first. Cameron Rupp (8) cut it to 2-1 with a solo home run in the bottom of the second, but that’s as close as the Phillies would get. Justin Upton’s (24) home run in the third made it 3-1, and James Shields’ RBI single in the sixth would put the padres up 4-1, and end Alec Asher’s afternoon. The Padres added another run in the seventh, and three more in the eighth to go up 8-1. The Phillies picked up a pair of runs in the bottom of the eighth on a Cesar Hernandez RBI triple, and a Aaron Altherr RBI single. Both teams scored a run in the ninth for the 9-4 final. The Phillies see then end of their two game winning streak come to an end along with their 5 game winning streak against the Padres. The Phillies fall to 52-79 while the Padres get to 63-67 with the win.
