The Phillies earned a split with the Cubs in their four game series by taking the finale by the score of 7-4. Kris Bryant gave the Cubs a 1-0 lead with a RBI single in the first. The Philies then took a 2-1 lead in the bottom half of the inning on a sacrifice fly by Ryan Howard, and a RBI single by Cameron Rupp. Ryan Howard (22) put the Phillies up 4-1 with a two run homer in the third. Addison Russell’s RBI single in the fourth, Chris Coghlan’s (16) solo home run in the fifth cut it to 4-3 in favor of the Phillies. Then in the seventh Cesar Hernandez’s fielding error allowed Addison Russel to score the tying run. In the bottom of the seventh a wild pitch by Clayton Richard allowed Aaron Altherr to score the go ahead run to make it 5-4 Phillies. Freddy Galvis gave the Phillies a couple of insurance runs with a two run double in the bottom of the eighth, and Ken Giles pitched a scoreless ninth to pick up his thirteenth save. the Phillies win their second in a row and are now 56-88, and the Cubs drop to 82-60.
