The Flyers had a chance to get closer to the final wild card spot but unfortunately came up on the short end of the stick in a 4-2loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs. Wayne Simmonds gave the Flyers a 1-0 lead 6:09 in to the first period. The Maple Leafs would then score the next three goals starting with William Nylander’s goal in the first that tied it 1-1. Tyler Bozak put the Maple Leafs up 2-1 with a goal in the second period. Mitch Marner put the Maple Leafs up 3-1 with just 6:16 left in regulation. The Flyers cut it to 3-2 just under four minutes later on a goal by Shane Gostisbehere. Nazem Kadri iced it for the Maple Leafs with an empty net goal with a minute left. Maple Leafs goalie Fredrick Andersen picked up the win to improve to 6-0-0 against the Flyers. The Flyers drop to 31-27-8 (31-350, and the Maple Leafs improve to 30-22-14 (30-36), and temporarily move into the second wild card spot.
