On the day the Phillies retired Roy Halladay’s #34 Zach Wheeler took to the mound and did one helluva impersonation of Halladay. Wheeler pitched a complete game shutout of his old team going 9 innings giving up just 2 hits, walking 1,and striking out 11 to help the Phillies complete the sweep of the Mets with a 3-0 win. The Phillies offense came courtesy of home runs by Jean Segura (8), and J.T. Realmuto (13) in the first inning, and Bryce Harper (20) in the sixth. The win is the Phillies eighth in a row and their lead in the NL East to 2 games. Just think this time last week the Phillies were 4.5 games out of first place. Isn’t baseball grand.
