While most Philly sports fans had the eyes glued to the Eagles – Saints, the Flyers were ending the western portion of their six game road trip in Phoenix to face the Coyotes. The Flyers trailed the Coyotes a 2-0, and 3-1 before staging one helluva comeback. After a scoreless first, goals by Rob Klinkhammer, and Lauri Korpikoski gave the Coyotes a 2-0 lead. Scott Hartnell cut it to 2-1 with his ninth goal of the season. Mikkel Boedker gave the Coyotes a 3-1 lead, and Brayden Schenn’s tenth goal of the season made it 3-2 Coyotes at the end of two. In the third Wayne Simmonds 14th goal tied it at 3-3, Jakub Voracek’s 10th gave the flyers the lead at 4-3, and Claude Giroux put his 12th goal into an empty net to ice it. The Flyers improve to 21-14-4, and for now reside in second place in the Metropolitan division.
