After being rained out on Thursday night the Phillies and Cubs kicked off their four game series with a double header on Friday night. The Phillies dropped game 1 of the series and doubleheader by the score of 5-1. A solo home run by Aaron Altherr in the second gave the Phillies the early 1-0 lead, but it would be the only run the Phillies would get off Jake Arrieta The Cubs would get on the board in the fifth on RBI doubles by Austin Jackson, and Kris Bryant to go up 2-1. Addison Russell’s two run double in the sixth put the Cubs up 4-1, and Starlin Castro finished off the scoring with a solo home run in the seventh. The Phillies lose their second in a row and fall to 54-87, while the Cubs improve to 81-58.
