The Phillies ended their losing streak at two games with a 3-1 win over the Marlins in game two of their series on Tuesday night. The Phillies took a 3-0 lead Tommy Joseph’s first major league home run in the second, a Peter Borjous RBI single in the fifth, and a Marcel Ozuna fielding error in the sixth. The Marlins avoided the shutout with a run in the ninth on a Derek Dietrich sacrifice fly. Vince Velasquez picked up the win to improve to 5-1, and Jeanmar Gomez picked up his major league leading 15th save. Phillies pitchers combined to strikeout 17 Marlins. The Marlins were 0-7 with RISP, and left 10 on base. Tommy Joseph had his first multi hit game and first RBI. The Phillies improve to 23-17, and the Marlins drop to 21-18.
